70+ Irresistible Dulce de Leche Desserts That Will Make You Weak in the Knees

If caramel had a richer, creamier, and vastly superior cousin, it would be Dulce de Leche.

I'm not being dramatic when I say this "liquid gold" is my love language. There is just something about the slow-cooked, milky sweetness that hits differently than regular sugar glazes.

It's thick enough to pipe onto a cupcake, gooey enough to swirl into brownies, and delicious enough that I admit to eating it straight from the jar with a spoon.

Whether you call it manjar, arequipe, or just "that magic stuff in the can," this ingredient will change how you bake. I went down a serious rabbit hole to find the best ways to use it, and things got a little out of hand.

From traditional Argentinian Alfajores to a 5-minute mousse that will save your dinner party, here are over 60 reasons why you need to stock up on sweetened condensed milk immediately.

Layer Cakes & Sheet Cakes

1. Dulce de Leche Cake

Okay so this is basically what birthday dreams are made of.

The recipe uses TWO whole cans of dulce de leche, half in the batter, half in the frosting, so you know it's going to deliver. The buttercream tastes light, fluffy, and kind of addictive.

I made this for my best friend's birthday and she asked me to make it again the following month. That tells you everything.

2. Golden Key Cake (Dulce de Leche Cake)

Russian communities also call this Golden Key Cake, and it features dulce de leche sponge layers soaked in a rich syrup.

The soaking syrup makes it SO moist, like, almost unbelievably moist. Roasted hazelnuts and chocolate sprinkles top it off, making it look like it came from a fancy bakery.

This is what I make for baby showers. People always ask for the recipe.

3. Brown Butter Dulce de Leche Cake

Brown butter AND dulce de leche in the same cake? Sign me up.

The nutty notes from the browned butter work so well with the caramelized milk flavor. The braided vanilla frosting detail on top makes it look professional without requiring actual professional skills.

Great for when you want to impress without stressing.

4. Three-Layer Dulce de Leche Cake

This three-layer cake celebrates Hispanic culinary heritage: moist vanilla cake, luscious dulce de leche & smooth vanilla frosting.

The best part?

You can use French Vanilla cake mix to save time. No judgment here, we all have those days.

I bring this to family gatherings and it ALWAYS gets devoured.

Pro tip: hide a slice for yourself before serving.

5. Dulce de Leche Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

DONUTS literally top this one. Yes, dulce de leche donuts sitting on top of your cake.

Is it extra? Absolutely. Is that the point? Also absolutely.

I made this for a potluck and someone offered me money for the recipe.

6. Chocolate Dulce de Leche Cake

For when you can't decide between chocolate and caramel so you just do both.

Rich chocolate cake layers with dulce de leche brown sugar buttercream. The dark brown sugar deepens both the color and flavor, which is a clever little trick.

This has become what I make for the chocolate lovers in my life.

7. Dulce de Leche Cake with Caramel Drizzle

Soft butter cake layers wear dulce de leche frosting, then caramel sauce cascades down the sides to finish.

The buttercream starts grainy when you're mixing it but transforms into silky smoothness as you add powdered sugar. It's kind of magical to watch.

Looks like you spent hours. You didn't. Our little secret.

8. Dulce de Leche Cake with Crystallized Sugar Garnish

This one uses THREE cans of dulce de leche and features gorgeous crystallized sugar garnishes on top.

It's the kind of cake that makes people gasp when you bring it to the table. The salted caramel buttercream rounds off all the sweetness nicely.

I made this for an anniversary dinner and my guests thought I'd ordered it from a bakery. Nope, just me and my dulce de leche obsession.

9. Tres Leches Cake with Dulce de Leche Glaze

Classic tres leches gets an upgrade with rum and a dulce de leche glaze.

The trick is using a chiffon batter and cooling the cake upside-down. Trust the process and you'll get good texture every time.

This is my contribution to every Argentinian-themed dinner party. World Cup celebrations just got sweeter.

10. Single-Layer Dulce de Leche Cake

Don't want to deal with stacking layers? Same.

This single-layer brown sugar cake soaks up dulce de leche syrup and wears a buttercream crown. Simple, flavorful, no complicated decorating required.

This is my "I need cake but I also need it to be easy" recipe. Great with afternoon coffee.

Cookies

11. Dulce de Leche Thumbprint Cookies

Buttery shortbread thumbprints hold pools of dulce de leche. The crumbly, soft texture with that creamy filling melts in your mouth.

Add flaky salt on top and suddenly you're a genius.

These are my holiday cookie exchange heroes. I've never brought any home because they disappear that fast.

12. Alfajores-Style Dulce de Leche Cookies

Traditional alfajores use cornflour for that signature delicate, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Sandwich them with dulce de leche and you've got magic.

They literally fall apart in the best way possible.

I made these for a dinner party and everyone thought I'd bought them from a specialty bakery. Mission accomplished.

13. Stuffed Dulce de Leche Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting

Soft brown sugar cookies STUFF themselves with dulce de leche, then cream cheese frosting AND a dulce de leche swirl crown them.

Yes, that's dulce de leche times three. Yes, it's necessary.

The cinnamon in the dough adds warmth without overwhelming anything. My husband calls these "the cookies that ruined all other cookies for me."

14. Dulce de Leche Chocolate Chip Cookies

What happens when you swirl dulce de leche into chocolate chip cookies? Very good things.

This no-chill recipe means faster cookie gratification. The cinnamon complements the dulce de leche beautifully.

My "I need cookies in 30 minutes" standby.

15. Brazilian Dulce de Leche Sandwich Cookies (Casadinhos)

Brazilians call these "Casadinhos" (meaning "married") in Portuguese. You will need just butter, sugar, flour, and dulce de leche.

Powdered sugar coats them after filling, and Brazilians serve them during "afternoon coffee." Now I understand why.

I made these for a cookie swap and people offered me money for them. The recipe is priceless though.

16. Argentinian Alfajores

The real deal. Crumbly, tender cookies embrace dulce de leche and often wear a coconut coat.

The lemon zest activates the baking soda and adds brightness that cuts through the richness. Little details make a big difference.

These make gorgeous gifts when you package them in cellophane with ribbon. People think you bought them from a fancy bakery.

17. Brown Butter Dulce de Leche Stuffed Cookies

Crispy edges, soft gooey centers, hidden pools of dulce de leche. The brown butter adds extra depth.

You don't need an electric mixer-these come together easily and bake beautifully in small batches.

I made these during the holidays and they disappeared faster than I could bake them. Now I always double the batch.

18. Dulce de Leche Cookies Rolled in Powdered Sugar

These pack dulce de leche INTO the dough AND stuff it in the center. Double the dulce de leche, double the deliciousness.

Powdered sugar coats them, making them look like little snow-covered treasures.

My "impress the in-laws" cookies. Works every time.

19. Ultimate Dulce de Leche Chocolate Chip Cookies

This recipe mixes dulce de leche directly into browned butter for the most INTENSE toasted milk flavor. The protein in dulce de leche does all the work, so you don't need eggs.

Super chewy, no crispy edges-just pure soft caramel-chocolate goodness.

This changed my chocolate chip cookie game forever. There's no going back.

20. Salted Dulce de Leche Sandwich Cookies

Buttery shortbread sandwiches dulce de leche mixed with coarse sea salt. The salt granules give a slight crunch that's weirdly addictive.

Great for the salty-sweet crowd.

My secret weapon for cookie season. People request these months in advance.

Brownies & Bars

21. David Lebovitz's Dulce de Leche Brownies

Deep-dark chocolate brownies swirl with dulce de leche from a legit pastry chef.

Resist over-swirling so you get big pockets of caramel. Also, trimming the edges after baking is basically chef's privilege-quality control, you know.

These are dangerously addictive. I have to hide them from myself.

22. Swirled Dulce de Leche Brownies

Rich, gooey chocolate brownies marble with dulce de leche caramel.

Most specialty brownie recipes don't end up tasting any better than a good old chocolate brownie.

But these? These are exceptional. Really exceptional.

I made these for a bake sale and they sold out in 15 minutes.

23. Easy Dulce de Leche Brownies

Fudgy, sticky, chewy, chocolatey-and a one-bowl recipe makes cleanup a breeze.

Coffee enhances the chocolate flavor, but you can use decaf or water if serving to kids. They freeze beautifully too.

Someone told me these are the best brownies they've ever tasted. I'm not crying, you're crying.

24. Dulce de Leche Brownies with Cinnamon

The touch of cinnamon complements the dulce de leche beautifully. A sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top when they come out of the oven balances all that richness.

The swirl technique creates a gorgeous marbled top that's almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

Great for Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day, Christmas... any day that ends in Y.

25. Ooey Gooey Dulce de Leche Brownies

Semi-homemade using brownie mix, caramels, sweetened condensed milk, and butter.

Fair warning: these are NOT the cut-into-perfect-squares type of brownies. They're messy, sticky, and just right that way.

Top with vanilla ice cream. Grab a spoon. No regrets.

26. Fudgy Dulce de Leche Brownies with Crinkle Top

Extra chocolaty with that crinkly top we all love. You make them from scratch-no boxed mix needed.

The dark chocolate gives you that deep, rich flavor that pairs so well with the caramel swirls.

My kids request these for every special occasion. They have excellent taste.

27. Salted Dulce de Leche Brownies

One-bowl, microwave-to-mix recipe with chunky sea salt on top. Some of the fudgiest brownies ever.

No melting chocolate on the stovetop-just zip it in the microwave, stir, pour, bake.

My "impressive yet easy" recipe. No one needs to know how simple it was.

28. Homemade Dulce de Leche Brownies

Making your own dulce de leche adds SO much flavor-just simmer a can of condensed milk for 3 hours. The result turns out fudgier than you'd expect.

Aggressively whipping the eggs and sugar together gives you that crinkly top.

Reader reviews say these taste SO decadent. Literally the simplest recipe and so fast to make.

Cheesecakes

29. Dulce de Leche Cheesecake with Chocolate chip Cookie Crust

Hands down the creamiest dulce de leche cheesecake I've found. The chocolate chip cookie crust never fails.

Readers have loved this for years, and for good reason.

I made this for Thanksgiving and it upstaged the pumpkin pie. Not even sorry.

30. Dulce de Leche Cheesecake with Cinnamon Graham Crust

Swirls of dulce de leche run throughout the batter AND across the top. The cinnamon in the graham crust adds warmth.

Pro tip: mix the dulce de leche with some batter before swirling to prevent grainy texture.

I made this as mini cheesecakes (27 of them) and everyone said it's their new favorite flavor.

31. Dulce de Leche Cheesecake with Caramel Glaze

Creamy, deeply sweet, a bit earthy. The water bath technique ensures a smooth, crack-free top.

Before serving, pour dulce de leche over the top and spread it with an offset spatula. Looks STUNNING.

My holiday dessert hero. Fancy enough for special occasions, easy enough for a random Tuesday.

32. David Lebovitz's Dulce de Leche Cheesecake

From a world-renowned pastry chef. If you can't find graham crackers, speculoos cookies make an excellent substitute.

Europeans love cream cheese and dulce de leche, and this cheesecake shows why.

I made this for French friends and they asked me to make it again the next week. International approval achieved.

33. Dulce de Leche Cheesecake with Tall Graham Crust

This one features a TALL crust that wraps the filling all the way up. No skimpy crust situation here.

The semi-water bath method (pan of water on the lower rack) gives you a non-cracked cheesecake with a dry crust. Genius.

Everyone says you could serve it at fancy restaurants. I agree.

34. Pati Jinich's Dulce de Leche Cheesecake

From celebrity chef Pati Jinich. The sour cream and dulce de leche combination creates a surprisingly light texture.

This might replace your previous favorite cheesecake. Heads up.

I made this and my husband said good job-then took the rest for his family. Guess it was a hit.

35. No-Bake Dulce de Leche Cheesecake

Don't want to turn on the oven? This no-bake version uses gelatin to set.

Beat cream cheese with dulce de leche, fold in whipped cream, refrigerate. That's it.

Great for hot summer days when baking sounds miserable.

36. No-Bake Dulce de Leche Cheesecake with Golden Grahams Crust

A Golden Grahams cereal crust with creamy dulce de leche filling-an 8-year-old made this recipe and won a family cooking competition with it.

No baking, no fuss, all deliciousness.

Great for family baking days. The kids love this one.

37. Dulce de Leche Cheesecake with Pecan Crust

This is without a doubt the best cheesecake I've ever made. Smooth, creamy perfection sits on a pecan crust.

The recipe makes extra dulce de leche sauce so you can drizzle more. Because why wouldn't you?

Let it stand at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before serving-it tastes much creamier that way.

Ice Cream & Frozen Treats

38. No-Churn Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

THREE ingredients. Less than ten minutes of active time. No ice cream maker required.

Use a 2:1 ratio of cream to dulce de leche, and swirl in extra for pretty ribbons throughout.

A fantastic way to use up leftover heavy cream. Not that I ever have leftover cream, but you know.

39. Churned Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

Good old-fashioned cream-and-egg-custard ice cream loaded with dulce de leche.

There's something satisfying about taking ordinary ingredients, churning them, and ending up with something this good.

Takes me back to childhood ice cream memories. Except better, because dulce de leche.

40. Classic Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

Traditional ice cream maker recipe with tempered eggs for that creamy texture.

Let it sit out for 5 minutes before serving for easier scooping. Patience rewards you.

High-quality ingredients make ALL the difference here. Don't skimp.

41. 4-Ingredient Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

Just milk, cream, dulce de leche, and vanilla. That's it.

Swirl remaining dulce de leche into the ice cream after churning for extra gooey goodness.

If you love caramel, this one is for you.

42. Brazilian No-Churn Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

This one swaps sweetened condensed milk for dulce de leche and includes a layer of crunchy digestive biscuits for texture.

The pretty sticky swirls make it Instagram-worthy. Function AND form.

My family's favorite dessert this year. Sweet, creamy, minimal effort-perfection.

43. Laylita's Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

Works with an ice cream maker OR just a mixer/blender/food processor. Options for everyone.

The first part is basically making vanilla ice cream, then you add dulce de leche at the end. Simple.

Serve with warm dulce de leche drizzled on top. Because more dulce de leche is always the answer.

44. Dulce de Leche Ice Cream with Caramel Swirl

Creamy ice cream with caramel swirled throughout. Heavy cream and no eggs make this easy.

Save some dulce de leche to swirl in with a butter knife. Those ribbons are everything.

Won't last long in your freezer. You've been warned.

45. Cinnamon Ice Cream with Dulce de Leche Swirl

Three types of cinnamon PLUS vanilla powder deliver mega depth of flavor, and sticky ribbons of dulce de leche finish it off.

Steep cinnamon sticks with the cream mixture for about 45 minutes for maximum flavor.

Spicy-sweet perfection. Makes any season feel special.

46. No-Churn Salted Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

The salt enhances the dulce de leche flavor without making it taste salty. Just five ingredients, no special equipment.

Press wax paper on top before freezing to prevent ice crystals.

Cool down with homemade ice cream that requires zero fancy tools.

Flan & Custards

47. Dulce de Leche Flan

Flan AND dulce de leche-two of the best desserts combined.

The key is whisking the dulce de leche into the warm milk until it completely dissolves. Patience pays off.

My culinary school training finally paid off with this recipe.

48. Easy Chilean Dulce de Leche Flan

Just milk, eggs, dulce de leche, and sugar-ingredients you probably already have. Make it in the morning, serve it cold at night.

Chilean desserts are known for their sweetness, and this one delivers.

Good for surprise dinner guests. Always keep dulce de leche on hand for emergencies like this.

49. Brazilian Pudim de Doce de Leite

Brazilians also call this "pudim" in Portuguese. Store-bought dulce de leche ensures consistent results, plus heavy cream adds extra creaminess.

Don't let the fancy photos intimidate you-this is actually quite easy.

Same dessert, different names, same deliciousness across cultures.

50. Filipino-Style Dulce de Leche Flan

This kicks up regular leche flan a notch with dulce de leche. Whole eggs instead of just yolks create a slightly lighter custard.

The microwave caramel method is genius-about 6-7 minutes and you've got golden caramel.

Full of caramel flavor in every bite.

51. Easy Dulce de Leche Flan

Smooth, rich, creamy-use whatever pan you like, including individual ramekins for cute single servings.

Make ahead for parties and potlucks since it needs time to set anyway.

Crowd favorite. First to disappear from the dessert table every time.

Cupcakes

52. Dulce de Leche Stuffed Cupcakes

Fluffy vanilla cupcakes get cored and filled with dulce de leche, then dulce de leche buttercream crowns them.

The stuffed filling is optional but HIGHLY recommended. Why have one layer when you can have two?

Everyone who tries these asks for the recipe. Now I just send them the link.

53. Brown Sugar Dulce de Leche Cupcakes

Brown sugar cupcakes stuffed with dulce de leche wear buttercream on top. The sour cream keeps them moist.

Add fruit slices or toasted coconut on top for a beautiful garnish.

Good for brunch, dessert, or "just because." Anytime is cupcake time.

54. Dulce de Leche Cupcakes with Three Levels

The filled cupcake, the buttercream, AND a generous dollop on top. Three layers of dulce de leche.

Hispanic bakers give these their stamp of approval-not too sweet, well balanced.

55. Dulce de Leche Cupcakes with Russian Buttercream

Classic vanilla cupcakes with dulce de leche filling and the EASIEST frosting ever-Russian buttercream. Just 3 ingredients.

Less finicky than cream cheese, not as sweet as traditional buttercream. A dream to pipe.

I made this as a gift and my friend loved it so much. That's the power of dulce de leche.

56. Dulce de Leche Cupcakes Topped with Donuts

Dulce de leche fills them, cream cheese frosting tops them, AND dulce de leche donuts finish them off.

Over the top in the best way possible.

Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar over the cupcakes before baking for a crackling top. Magic.

57. Salted Dulce de Leche Chocolate Cupcakes

Chocolate cupcakes hold dulce de leche inside, and salted dulce de leche cream cheese frosting sits on top.

The coffee in the chocolate batter adds depth without being overpowering.

From the cookbook "Fantastic Filled Cupcakes"-one of the most popular recipes for good reason.

58. Dulce de Leche Cupcakes with Swirl Frosting

The plastic wrap technique creates a stunning frosting swirl that looks professional without requiring skills.

The sour cream and whole milk make the most tender, moist cupcakes that stay fresh for days.

Luxurious and satisfying. Great for birthdays, parties, or a random Wednesday.

Banana Bread

59. Pati Jinich's Dulce de Leche Banana Bread

Celebrity chef Pati Jinich combines two beloved flavors. The dulce de leche batter layered on top creates a beautiful swirl.

Add walnuts and almonds if you want crunch. Feel free to customize.

I watch her show and just have to jump in and cook along. This banana bread is pure heaven.

60. Dulce de Leche Banana Bread (One-Bowl)

Bananas and dulce de leche are a match made in heaven-a classic combination in Brazil. One-bowl method, very forgiving recipe.

No dulce de leche? Use Nutella. But the dulce de leche is worth finding.

My sad-looking bananas have never been happier. This is what they were waiting for.

61. Moist Dulce de Leche Banana Bread

Super moist, swirled with dulce de leche, drizzled with MORE on top. Black bananas are welcomed here.

Let it cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. I know it's hard to wait.

It sounds delicious, and it IS.

62. Dulce de Leche Banana Bread with Slow Cooker Dulce de Leche

Includes instructions for making dulce de leche in the slow cooker-one ingredient, 8-10 hours. The BEST banana bread.

Poke holes in the warm bread and drizzle warmed dulce de leche on top. It soaks right in.

Great for waking up to with a cup of coffee or chai tea.

63. Dulce de Leche Banana Bread with Dark Chocolate Chunks

Bake it in a cast iron skillet for faster cooking AND crispier edges. Dark chocolate chunks AND dulce de leche swirls.

At what point does banana bread become dessert? Probably right here. But I still serve it for breakfast.

Decadent but totally acceptable morning food. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Cinnamon Rolls & Pastries

64. Dulce de Leche Cinnamon Rolls

Sweet, buttery, fluffy cinnamon rolls pack dulce de leche INSIDE and wear a dulce de leche cream cheese glaze on top. The sour cream makes the dough soft.

The hardest part is being patient while waiting for the dough to rise.

Watch everyone's faces light up when you pull these out of the oven.

65. Dulce de Leche & Pecan Cinnamon Rolls with Coffee Glaze

Ooey-gooey, rich, and kinda messy. Dulce de leche and toasted pecans fill them, and coffee glaze drizzles over the top.

You don't need a mixer! Just patience-every sticky, caramel-dripping bite is worth it.

Comfort food with a Mexican flair. Pair with café de olla for the cozy treat.

66. Easy Dulce de Leche Cinnamon Rolls

A frozen bread loaf serves as the base, making these SO much easier. Roll out, spread dulce de leche, sprinkle cinnamon and pecans, bake.

Great for Mother's Day brunch or any morning you want to feel fancy without the fuss.

Homemade taste with less work. No judgment here.

67. Jamie Oliver's Dulce de Leche Filled Doughnuts

Pillowy golden doughnuts hold dulce de leche inside and roll in cinnamon sugar. From the one and only Jamie Oliver.

You'll know you've squeezed in enough filling when it starts to ooze out. That's the sweet spot.

Great for weekend baking. Nothing says "I love you" like homemade doughnuts.

Mousse & Puddings

68. 3-Ingredient Dulce de Leche Mousse

One of the easiest mousse recipes ever-dulce de leche, heavy cream, cream cheese. No eggs, no gelatin.

The tanginess of cream cheese balances the sweetness. Layer it in glasses with extra drizzle? Chef's kiss.

Great for special occasions or ending a meal on a high note.

69. Pati Jinich's Dulce de Leche Mousse

Top this with fresh berries or chocolate salami for a showstopping presentation. You can make it in a bundt pan and invert it for drama.

The sour cream and dulce de leche combination creates something light yet rich.

I've made hundreds of cheesecakes, but this mousse might be prettier. And easier.

70. Dulce de Leche Mousse with Whipped Egg Whites

Creamy mousse with a lighter texture thanks to whipped egg whites. The dulce de leche flavor shines without being too heavy.

Make your own dulce de leche in the Instant Pot for the best flavor-it's easier than you think.

Fancy enough for dinner parties, easy enough for Tuesday.

71. 5-Minute Dulce de Leche Mousse

This mousse comes together in just 5 MINUTES. No gelatin, no whipped egg whites required.

You can freeze it in popsicle molds for a sweet frozen treat. Versatility for the win.

Ever the crowd-pleaser and embarrassingly easy to make. Our little secret.

72. Dulce de Leche Mousse with Custard Base

You make it by folding dulce de leche custard into whipped cream. Silky, luscious, no gelatin required.

The egg yolk-based custard makes this more luxurious than simpler versions. Worth the extra step.

Quick and easy but impressive. Ready in 20 minutes.

Tarts & Pies

73. Salted Dark Chocolate and Dulce de Leche Tart

Light, airy chocolate ganache mousse hides a layer of dulce de leche, all in a sweet, salty cookie crust. NO BAKE.

People don't expect that hidden layer. The contrast is divine.

I've made this 5-6 times. Quick, easy, great for when you don't want to turn on the oven.

74. Simple Dulce de Leche Tart

Soft, creamy dulce de leche fills a tart shell, and coarse sea salt finishes it. You can go full homemade or take shortcuts.

Works in a tart pan OR a 9-inch pie plate. Use whatever you have.

Really easy, really delicious, really decadent. What more could you want?

75. Dulce de Leche Tartlets

Mini tartlets that are great for parties. Store-bought shells make for an easy, impressive dessert.

Whip the dulce de leche for about 3 minutes-it becomes easier to scoop and lighter in texture.

Elegant desserts that look like they took hours. They didn't.

Panna Cotta

76. Ricardo's Dulce de Leche Panna Cotta

Silky smooth panna cotta with the rich flavor of dulce de leche. Top with whipped cream and raspberry jam.

The key is getting the texture right-soft enough to melt in your mouth but firm enough to hold its shape.

Refrigerate for at least 5 hours. Patience is a virtue here.

77. Chilean Dulce de Leche Panna Cotta

I made this for a school fundraiser dinner and it was a great success. The texture should feel soft and melty, not like jelly.

Use La Lechera dulce de leche for best results. The consistency matters.

Easy and impressive. My go-to fancy dessert.
